Two kinds of personal information pass through this service: yours, as a customer, and the property owners' in the lists you upload. They are handled differently, and both are described here.

Your information as a customer

We collect only what running your account needs:

  • Your email address and password. The password is hashed by our authentication provider; we never see it.
  • Your company name, if you give one, and the timestamp of your permissible-use acceptance.
  • Order records — row counts, prices, statuses, timestamps and the audit trail of each order.
  • Payment records. Card details go directly to our payment processor and never reach our servers. We store only the processor's identifiers and the amounts.

We use this to run and support your account, take payment, issue refunds, and meet tax and accounting obligations. We do not sell it. Your email address, name and company are never passed to an analytics or advertising service; what those services do receive is described under Cookies and analytics.

Email from us, and the Coming soon list

A new customer who has confirmed their email address gets one welcome email from us. Anyone can also leave an email address, and tick the features they care about, on the Coming soon page; we use it to tell them when those features are ready, and send one confirmation when they join. We do not sell or share these addresses. Every such email has an unsubscribe link, and writing to support@skipmatch.com removes an address too. An unsubscribe keeps the address on a do-not-email list so we do not write to it again. Emails about your orders and your account are separate and still sent.

The lists you upload

A list you upload contains other people's personal information. We treat it as yours, held on your behalf, for the purpose of your order.

  • Uploaded files are stored in a private, encrypted bucket that only your account and our processing system can reach.
  • The identifying fields you mapped — name and address — are transmitted to our licensed data partner for the sole purpose of matching. Your other columns are not sent.
  • The returned data is stored with your order so you can download it again, and made available to you through a link that expires in one hour.
  • We never pool your list into a database we sell, use it for our own marketing, contact the owners on it, or share it with another customer.

How long files are kept

Uploads and results are retained for 90 days after delivery so you can re-download them and so we can investigate a dispute, then deleted. Order metadata — dates, counts, amounts — is kept for seven years for accounting. You can ask us to delete an order's files sooner at any time by writing to support@skipmatch.com; we will confirm when it is done.

Who else processes this data

We use a small number of providers, each for one job:

  • A cloud database and storage provider, which hosts the account, order and file data.
  • A payment processor, which handles card payment and refunds.
  • A contact-data partner, which performs the matching.
  • An email provider, which sends transactional notices such as "your file is ready".
  • Google, which provides site analytics and ad measurement through the cookies described below.

Each is bound to use the data only to provide its service to us. Data is stored in the United States. We do not disclose data to anyone else except where the law requires it, and we will tell you if that happens unless we are forbidden to.

Cookies and analytics

We store the session token that keeps you signed in, a remembered preference for light or dark appearance, and your cookie choice if you make one.

We also use Google Tag Manager to run Google's analytics and advertising-measurement tags. They set cookies that record which pages are viewed, how a visitor arrived (for example from a search ad) and whether the visit led to an account or an order. For that we send events such as the page address, a price you calculated, the number of rows in a file, and an order's reference, value and any refund. We never send your email address, name, phone number, uploaded file, its name, or anything in your lists.

Advertising cookies can let an ad platform connect a visit here with ads you saw elsewhere. We do not sell personal information. Your choices:

  • In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics and advertising cookies stay off until you allow them.
  • Anywhere, you can allow or decline them with at the foot of every page. Declining turns both off and is remembered in this browser.
  • If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out of advertising cookies.

We also remember your first landing page, campaign tags, referring website hostname and arrival time in this browser. When you create an account, we save those details with your account to measure which visits lead to signups and paying customers.

Activity shown on this site

We may show short, anonymised notes about recent activity on our public pages, for example that a buyer in Texas ran about 1,200 records, the share of that list that matched, or that someone created an account. Counts are rounded, times are approximate (such as “within the hour”, “3 hours ago” or “this week”), and a city is named only if it is a large one; otherwise it is the state or just “the US”. We never show your name, email address, company, file name, list contents or exact times. Test payments and our own staff accounts are left out.

Your choices

  • Ask us to leave your account out of the activity shown on this site by writing to support@skipmatch.com.
  • Ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you as a customer.
  • Correct it, or ask us to delete your account and its files.
  • If you are a property owner and believe your information was included in a list processed here, write to us with the details and we will tell you what we hold and delete it where we lawfully can. We are a processor of that data, not its source — we do not compile or sell contact databases.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to customer files is restricted at the database level so one account can never read another's, and result links are signed and short-lived rather than public. No system is perfect; if we discover a breach affecting your data we will tell you promptly and tell you what to do about it.

Children

This is a business service. It is not directed at anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes and contact

We will post any change here and update the date at the top; material changes are emailed to account holders. Privacy questions go to support@skipmatch.com.
