Skipmatch vs PropStream: what skip tracing costs on each
As of Sept 2026, PropStream charges 12¢ per contact for skip tracing on its Essentials plan and includes it on Pro and Elite; Skipmatch charges $0.03 a record, with no plan. Which costs less depends on whether you already pay for Pro or Elite.

The short answer
If you already pay for PropStream Pro or Elite, tracing inside what the plan includes adds no per-contact charge, and no per-record price can beat a trace with no per-contact charge. Past what the plan includes, PropStream's additional skip tracing is 10¢ per contact; compare that with Skipmatch's per-record price below. If you are on Essentials, or you have a list and no PropStream plan, you are paying a monthly plan plus 12¢ per contact, and Skipmatch's per-record price with no plan is the comparison worth running.

PropStream's published skip tracing rule
PropStream states the rule on two of its own pages, in different words:
- Its skip tracing page (propstream.com/skip-tracing (opens in a new tab)) says skip tracing is "free with the Pro or Elite plan, or when you add Lead Automator to your Essentials plan", and otherwise $0.12 per contact.
- Its pricing page (propstream.com/pricing (opens in a new tab)) says skip tracing is free through PropStream Connect, an add-on from $30 a month on Essentials that is included on Pro and Elite, and that additional skip tracing on Pro and Elite is 10¢ per contact.
The two pages name the Essentials add-on differently; each is quoted here with its own page. The terms we recorded do not give a number of contacts a plan covers before the additional rate applies.

Skipmatch's published price
One price per matched record: $0.03 a record at any list size. There is no plan, no subscription and optional prepaid credit. An order is 50 to 100,000 records. The quote is shown before you pay, and a hold for that amount is placed on your card at checkout; it is the most the list can cost. Minimum charge $0.50 when any record matches.
The file comes back with your own columns unchanged, then up to 10 phones per owner, each labelled mobile, landline or VoIP, and emails where they exist. See the sample result file or the full pricing page.
Cost at 500, 5,000 and 25,000 contacts
PropStream's columns are one month of a plan billed monthly, plus 12¢ per contact in the Essentials column. Skipmatch's column is the most the list can cost, with no plan. The Essentials + Connect and Pro columns assume the list fits inside what the add-on or plan includes; the terms we recorded do not give that number, and past it Pro and Elite charge 10¢ per contact.

When PropStream is the better fit
- You already pay for Pro or Elite. Skip tracing is included there, so a trace inside what the plan includes adds no per-contact charge, and no per-record price can match a trace with no per-contact charge. Past that, PropStream's additional rate is 10¢ per contact.
- You build your lists in PropStream. Its list building, property data and comps are the reason to have the plan; Skipmatch does none of that and only traces a list you already have.
When Skipmatch is the better fit
- You already have a list and do not want a monthly plan to trace it.
- You are on Essentials and paying 12¢ per contact: compare that with Skipmatch's per-record price in the table above, or run your own count in the cost calculator.
- You want to see the file layout first: the sample result file shows the columns you get back before you order.
